Mt Chocorua

Mt Chocorua (3475 Ft elevation) is probably the first "Mountain" you see driving north on Rt 16.  It is a popular destination as the hike is relatively short with moderate terrain leading to an open, rocky, cone summit with incredible views.  You can reach the peak primarily via the Piper Trail (Rt 16), or the Champney Falls Trail (Kancamagus Highway)

The Champney Falls Trail is 3.8 miles each way and took 3 hours with a short stop at the falls.

Most memorable part of the trip - My 20 year old Raichle hiking boots starting separating from the soles about half way up.  You can see the front of the boots in the lower center.  A MacGyver attempt to hold them together with chewing gum was only slightly successful.  It was difficult going down hill with a flapping sole, but we did make it to the parking lot before the soles separated!
